Celebrating The Girl Child: Neya Kalu Foundation Brings Succour To Students Of Igbere Secondary School
The Publisher of The Sun Newspaper, Neya Uzor Kalu, a distinguished businesswoman, lawyer, and philanthropist, today extended support to students of Igbere Secondary School in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
Represented at the event by Mrs Oluomachi, Mrs Kalu donated the sum of ₦500,000 to assist in the payment of school fees for the students. She also provided various educational and personal items, including school bags, sanitary materials, books, and other learning resources.
Speaking through her representative, Barrister Neya Kalu reiterated her commitment to promoting education and empowering young girls to realise their full potential.
She said: “Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, to dream, and to become everything she aspires to be. Education is the greatest gift we can offer them, and it is the surest path to a better society.”
She further urged the students to remain focused and determined, regardless of the challenges they may face, noting that diligence and discipline are key to success.
“Do not allow your background or current circumstances to limit your vision. Work hard, stay committed, and believe in yourselves. The future belongs to those who are prepared,” she said.
She also emphasised the need for society to continue investing in girls’ education and well-being, describing it as a vital step towards building stronger communities.
“When we educate a girl, we educate a family, a community, and ultimately a nation. The progress of our country depends on how well we nurture and support our young girls,” she added.
